Have you ever thought which country would win the Sustainable Olympics?
Based on a 2010 study Iceland would bring home the Gold.

Gold:       Iceland
Silver:    Switzerland
Bronze: Costa Rica

On the chart below you will see the top 10 sustainable countries based on 12 Olympic events…I mean 12 sustainable categories.

With these results one wonders what it takes to become an Olympic Sustainable Champion.  Iceland’s High Performance initiatives are coached from two government bodies.  The government of Iceland has been pursuing excellence in sustainability well before sustainability was a popular trend.  One of Iceland’s most impactful Acts was the Nature Conservation Act passed in 1999.

Switzerland more than deserves the silver medal as they have to continually compete with Global Warming melting the Alps, causing excessive water in the agriculture system.  Much like Iceland, Switzerland is able to prevail Global Warming thus far, due to government involvement and over 100K Green jobs.

Costa Rica most known for their tourism and surfing stands proud on the podium wearing their bronze medal.  When not surfing and pampering tourists, Costa Rica has developed one of the best forest and water systems in the World.  Costa Rica has been able to develop and maintain this accomplishment through their Ministry of Environment, Energy and Telecommunications.

It comes as no surprise that the Champions of the Sustainable Olympics share common coaching techniques.  Government Involvement!!  For the USA to compete for GOLD, our government will need to take more action in saving our planet and becoming a High Performance sustainable Country.  It will take all of “US”A to change our own individual habits and demand our government to do the same.

Will you help the “US”A bring home the GOLD!!!
